Meet Me

I grew up in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area rooting for Iowa Hawkeyes sports most of my life (sometimes grudgingly). I always grew up being interested in the power of “stories”, whether this was with movies, comic books/books, songs, writing, or someone’s life story. I started my journey writing and performing music and initially went to school for music. I quickly redirected my skills into seeking to help others through talking and just being there. Ultimately, I found the individuals had power in their own stories and that could lead to healing. That might even mean being able to rewrite your story to get to better healing. I have my Masters Degree from Saint Louis University in Clinical Social Work, as well as my License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) in Illinois and Missouri.
Before I moved to Quincy with my wife, Kaleigh, and my dog, Riley, I lived in Saint Louis for 8 years working in a variety of high-needs areas, including residential homes for youth, homeless shelter for adolescents, community mental health with adults, trauma therapy with school age kids (elementary through highschool), and private practice therapy. During my time in community mental health, I even built up a mental health program for adults struggling with daily living activities, mental health, and substance use. I found that there is a great need for a male mental health provider and I find joy in providing that for those who specifically want that.
I found that “Why do you do what you do?” is a hard question because people often look for an extravagant answer. The simple answer is: I see the value in individuals despite what their challenges, their past, or their goals are. Like stated above, I see the power in stories and grace, and their ability to lead to healing.
I look forward to helping you find the power in your story and helping you find healing!

Riley - co owner
Loving & cuddly when she knows you! Riley has helped out in numerous counseling sessions in private practice and in schools. Her favorite hobbies are chasing squirrels, walks, and meeting new dog friends. She has always been a big support when needed. She is trained with a climb bed, basic commands, and a guidance collar. She can be timid at first, but usually warms up very quickly! While she may be in sessions, engaging with her is not required and she can just rest on her climb bed. If there are other concerns, feel free to let me know ahead of your scheduled session!
